Resin Bound Driveway and Metal Railings Yaxley

Resin Bound Driveway and Metal Railings in Yaxley

The beginning

Our customers had an area outside their recently built property that they wanted to improve the look of as well as create a new place for parking.

Work we carried out

For a clean look with minimum maintenance a Resin Bound surface was suggested and to make the install fully SUDS (suburban Urban Drainage) compliant a fully permeable install was completed using a bitumen base. To segregate the area we fabricated and installed new railings and a gate, galvanised and powder coated in black. The install was finished in Daltex Silver hand troweled in UVR Resin.
Resin Bound Driveway Install in Dogsthorpe

Resin Bound Driveway installed in Dogsthorpe

The beginning

Our client wanted to improve the look of their driveway with something that would require minimum work to keep looking good and also compliment the recent rendering work completed on the property.

Work we carried out

It was decided that a Resin Bound installation would be the perfect choice due to it looking stunning and requiring next to no maintenance compared to something like block paving. The existing concrete was repaired where required and the area of loose gravel was fully excavated and a new open course bitumen base installed. A charcoal edging block was used to edge the install and to split the two parking areas and pathway in front of the house. The main access area and pathway was troweled in our own Titanium blend and the extended parking area in Golden Pea. Both areas bound in UVR Resin with C52 additive.

Resin Bound Driveway and Garden Make Over in Werrington

The beginning

Wanting to improve the look of their driveway and totally revamp their rear garden our customers wanted our advice on the best thing we could do that would require little maintenance to keep looking nice. After providing them quotations for both Block Paving/Slab work and a Full Resin Bound install they decided they liked the finish of Resin Bound and were impressed with the little maintenance it requires to keep looking nice.

Work we carried out

The rear garden was stripped bare and new open course base work installed to create pathways around the entire garden. These pathways were edged with a charcoal block which we also used to surround the raised planters that were installed and new turf laid. New steps were introduced at the front and rear entrances and the driveway prepared for a resin bound overlay. Similar to the rear, new pathways were created around the front garden area, blocks installed around including the planter and new turf laid. The front and rear garden areas were then trowelled with Golden Pea aggregate with the driveway being treated to our own blend called Wild Berry, all bound in UVR Resin. Our customers are over the moon with the final result and the project has drawn quite a bit of interest with neighbours.
Resin Bound Driveway Install Repair in Orton

Replacing a Poorly Installed Resin Driveway

The beginning

Our customers initially approached us for advice regarding a driveway that was installed by another company that they weren’t happy with. Upon inspection it was clear that the install was not completed correctly. A plastic grid system was used as a new base for an extended area which although is suitable for use in a Resin installation it isn’t anything we would recommend.  As well as this the grid wasn’t correctly filled with aggregate anyway which led to failure. The Resin had been trowelled ridiculously thin which led to the plastic grid actually piercing through the Resin and areas at the front of the garage had weeds penetrating. The so called “warranty” wasn’t up to much as the company simply ignored the customers emails and calls even after they progressed with legal action.

Work we carried out

We lifted the existing resin and removed all the plastic grid. A new bitumen base was installed with MOT Type-1 hardcore and opencourse 14mm. The area at the front of the garage was cut back to allow Resin to be trowelled at the correct depth of 18-20mm Once the install was prepared the project was trowelled in Slate Grey aggregate bound in UVR Resin. It goes to show that finding a reputable company for this type of work is vital. We have recently been called out to lots of installs that have been poorly completed and have had to install again (two of which were installers listed on so called “trusted trader” type sites). Our recommendation to anybody considering a driveway installation is to do your research and look at google reviews. These are difficult for people to fake unlike the “trusted trader” type websites that a lot of companies register with as a method of being able to leave lots of fake reviews. New block paviours were installed around the project to keep everything bound nicely and angled so there would be no tripping points.
