The Beginning
Our clients had recently purchased a bungalow in Gunthorpe that had a driveway that had been overlaid with tarmac numerous times and was causing issues with flooding due to being higher than the damp course and having aco drains near the garage that weren’t connected to any drains and therefore useless.
They wanted to improve the look of the driveway, cure the flooding issues and at the same time extend the size of the drive at the front.
Work we carried out
To extend the drive at the front meant the front garden wall would need to be shortened. As the wall was in pretty bad condition it was decided to demolish the existing wall and for us to build a new one.
The tarmac was removed where required from the driveway and a new base of open course bitumen installed and also used for the extended area.
This was installed on a new base of MOT Type-1 hardcore and the entire perimeter area edged with Charcoal block paviours.
The install was then troweled with Golden Pea aggregate bound in UVR resin for vehicular traffic.
The end result is a surface that allows the water to drain through it, will be resistant to weeds, oil and moss and will not fade. Not only this but it looks absolutely superb.
